Meet Lisa & Naomi
MEET LISA

I am a 50-something Aussie-born wife and mother currently living in the stunning wilds of Scotland, UK. I am, amongst many other hobbies and interests and pursuits, an author, a journalist, an editor, a photographer, an artist, an illustrator, and even an interior designer.
I am the co-creator of Willow Lane Art and Design which began as notebooks and has now expanded into cards and prints. I do the hand-painted or hand-drawn art, and my sister Naomi (below) does much of the design and digital art. We have been partners in everything publishing-related from the first moment I handed her a manuscript over twenty years ago and said, “What do you think?” We work well together and know where the skills of one ends and the other’s begins. Even when my novels were eventually taken up by a traditional publisher, I insisted Naomi come with me as the cover artist and book designer and they agreed. We later went into running our own small press together, bringing out a variety of books, and that has now downscaled into “The Lonely Creative Imprint” or TLC, hence the website name.
Given that we absolutely both loved creating covers and books together, and knew we worked together brilliantly, it was the easiest, most natural thing in the world to jump into notebooks, cards and prints with her. And that’s where Willow Lane was born.
I live with my husband who also happens to be my best friend and who frequently makes me laugh, my absolutely delightful, polite and caring teenage son, and two of the sweetest, quirkiest, and most placid girl-cats God ever made.
Thank you for stopping by and for choosing to spend a little of life’s precious gift of time here in our small corner of the world. I am truly grateful.
MEET NAOMI

As we’re sisters, I am, of course, Aussie-born as well, but I still live in Australia in the beautiful mountains of Queensland along with my two teenage boys, husband, handy parents in the granny flat next door, an acreage of avocado trees, a few chickens, and a “big-boned” beagle. (We have a history of overfeeding our animals in this family.)
I have many years of experience as a web developer and graphic designer, including designing book covers, websites, brochures, adverts and later branching into digital art, but I also write novels, sing and play piano, direct plays, run playgroups and countless other creative activities. Lisa calls me a gap filler because wherever there seems to be a gap in volunteers for something, I step up and discover a new hobby, God-given talent, or creative outlet.
I am the other half of Willow Lane notebooks, art and cards. Lisa does the hand-drawn or hand-painted artwork and I do the digital art. Together we share the design work. I do the notebooks for instance, and Lisa does a lot of the cards and other products. Though I have other clients with my graphic design business, Willow Lane is by far my favourite thing to do.
I hope you find something here that inspires you, whether it’s a book to read, a product to purchase or even just an idea to take away for creating your own works of art and designs. If one of us can be any help to you, try our contact page. We’d love to hear from you.
