Who is The Lonely Creative?

Who is The Lonely Creative?
We are two sisters. Between us we write, edit, design, paint, publish, photograph, typeset and so much more. We have been working together ever since Lisa handed Naomi a fantasy manuscript over twenty years ago and said, “What do you think?” Since then, publishing fantasy novels has been a joint venture and a passion, getting us through the many dark days and struggles that writing and publishing brings, and even leading us to publishing other books for other authors under our own imprint or working on books for other publishers. Even when Lisa’s novels were taken up by a traditional publisher, we continued to work together. (Lisa insisted on having Naomi on board as the first test reader and the cover designer.)
The Lonely Creative is the writing and publishing half of our website. Willow Lane Art & Design is the other half, where we combine Naomi’s design and graphic art with Lisa’s painting and drawing to create a whole range of products for sale on this site. Like our books, Willow Lane Art & Design arises out of meaning, passion and heart.

Why ‘The Lonely Creative’?
We are a writer and a designer called by God* to stand alone in the great big convoluted world of publishing. We are called to the middle places: the places that don’t quite belong to anyone or anything and yet connect to everyone. These are the lonely places where many pass through but few stay.
We both believe that for all our differences, there is a place where we are all the same. We all share heartaches, hopes, fears, doubts, pain and joys. That, we believe, is the middle ground, and that is where you can always come and find us any time you want to read a book that speaks to the very heart of who we all are.

We are mixed-bag creatives and this is a mixed-bag website. You can read more about Willow Lane by clicking “About Willow Lane” and find out more about this site and more about us personally on the “Welcome” page. Go behind the scenes of our art, design, publishing, books, and in particular the many journeys God* has taken us on in the Behind the Scenes blog.

It’s hard to explain to people just how much God has ordained these books and this journey, but some of these posts might help:-
