When I first started painting with watercolours, I would often take photos of my latest pieces and send them to our family group chat. After a while, though, once we’d gone through the usual “Love it!” and “That’s beautiful!”, I started thinking … wouldn’t it be more interesting if everyone joined in somehow?

So I created a short-term creative challenge.

I’d choose a topic, and everyone could respond in whatever creative way took their fancy. They might take a photograph, act something out, cook or bake something, stitch, write a poem or short story, compose some music … anything went.

Everyone embraced it wholeheartedly, and before long we had some wonderfully creative back-and-forth conversations, including more than a few hilarious responses.

When Naomi and I created our Writing Prompt Pack, it reminded me of those family challenges, and I thought it would be lovely to do something similar again — this time with all of you.

As I wondered what our first theme should be, my mind immediately went back to one of the prompts I created all those years ago: the Danish concept of hygge. Below are the exact images I sent the family, photograhs of my little 15 × 15 cm journal. (Click on one to see the full image.)

Our first-ever Creative Prompt Pack is completely free (no email required, only curiosity), and we happen to think you will love it.

Inside you’ll find a beautifully designed introduction that explores the idea of hygge and invites you to respond in your own creative way. It also includes two colouring pages (or art templates), so if you’re not quite sure where to begin, you can simply colour one, trace it, or use it as the starting point for your own artwork.

We’ve also included free-to-use images and colour prompts that you can use for inspiration, or to print and cut out for your own creative projects. Some of the images are unique to us and won’t be found anywhere else.

We’d love to see where it takes you.

So download it, make yourself comfortable, and see where your creativity leads. If you enjoy it, we’d love to create many more Creative Prompt Packs in the future.
